Boots Boggs in the Military William Lester Boggs was drafted into the war at the age of 26. He went through basic training at Fort Riley, Kansas. From Fort Riley, his unit was sent to Fort Meade, Maryland. He was put in the U.S. Army 168th Infantry Regiment, 34th Infantry Division.
